Ipswich Mills
Ipswich, Massachusetts
Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 as part of the Ipswich Mills Historic District, the original portion of this building was built in 1868.

The building was originally home to Ipswich Mills, the world's largest hosiery factory in operation from 1822-1922.

In 1939, Sylvania began operation of a flourescent lighting plant at the location, and in 1942 began its contribution to the war effort by designing and assembling the proximity fuse - known as one of America's most important secret weapons -- second only to the atomic bomb.

Since 1996, the building has been home to EBSCO Publishing,
a leading producer of electronic reference products worldwide.
